Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- What makes this plan different from other health programs? We use a science-backed, data-driven, and ultra-personal approach that is fully tailored to your body and lifestyle. No generic advice — just a plan that actually works for you.
- How do I get tested? We conduct a 1 or 2 minute non-invasive and pain-free comprehensive health scan for your key body measurements, to create a plan based on your unique physiology and biomarkers.
- How soon will I see results? The scan itself takes 1 minute for the FIT and 2 minutes for the PRO, after which you get the results immediately. With our plan, most clients notice effects towards their goal within 2 to 4 weeks (this includes increased energy, better sleep, and weight improvements).
- Can I integrate this plan into my current lifestyle? Absolutely! This is what we do. We tailor the plan to fit seamlessly into your daily routine so it's practical and sustainable.

Meet our team
Marleen Vernooij
The empathetic health coach "Although I grew up in a real handball family, I discovered around age 20 that being energetic and healthy is about much more than sports. Hormonal issues taught me that health transcends the concepts of mental and physical: hormones affect everything, and everything affects hormones. Through balance in stress and rest, good sleep, nourishing nutrition, and getting to know myself very well, I'm doing great now, but this is still important. The road up is one where each peak makes the view more beautiful. With Charged, my personal and professional paths converge on the same mountain, and I am building a lifestyle environment that enables sustainable health for everyone – step by step, and for life!"

Rebecca Hietink
The driven, positive lifestyle doctor "During my medical studies, I got stuck: looking for direction, motivation, and a healthy balance. My own search for wellness led me to discover the value of a holistic approach. Realizing that lifestyle and behavioral changes could help me so much completely changed my perspective. As a physician, I now want to support others in their journey to harmony, with customized solutions and data-driven insights. At Charged, I feel at home because we develop tools that empower people to improve their health and well-being."

Mark van Dorp
The creative problem-solver "During the COVID period, I asked myself that oh-so-difficult question again: where can I best put my entrepreneurial energy in the coming years? After years full of entrepreneurial adventures, from Amsterdam to Oman, Dubai and back again, I found the answer in Charged. I realized more than ever how important health is. Not only socially, but especially personally. My own experiences convinced me of an approach to wellness that unites mental and physical health. I believe the latest science and technology can be of great help in this regard. In the coming years, I will build a future where mental and physical vitality go hand in hand for as many people as possible!"

Niek Karsmakers
The action-oriented builder "After an intense search for my 'next big thing,' a period of reflection unexpectedly brought me back to myself. By simply feeling rather than forcing, I found what I was looking for: health as a daily journey, with no end point. Charged embodies for me the power of sustainable choices and finding balance between mind and body. It is an extension of my own journey of discovery, in which I want to support others in their path to health and energy. By offering people the tools to find insight and direction, we build a healthier future together."

Evert de Bruijn
The goal-oriented connector "Until I was 35, I was always active and athletic. I loved the physical challenge, the mental clarity, and the sense of strength it gave me. But over the years – and a busier life with family, entrepreneurship, and social obligations – that balance began to shift. Sports came with peaks and valleys. In my work in the fitness industry, I saw the same pattern in others. The amount and contradiction of information about a healthy lifestyle can be paralyzing. This inspired me to start Charged: a platform that helps people develop a healthy lifestyle that suits them, without sacrificing family, friends, or ambitions."

Jesse van der Meulen
The creative, organizing idealist "A period of panic attacks during my studies brought me many insights and changed my priorities. Balance and health have always come first since then. I follow my energy and intuition and am more aware of my habits. Since I experienced and measured how positive yoga works for me both physically and mentally after an initial experience with our Health Scan, I enjoy doing it twice a week. With Charged, I want to give more people the tools to experience insight, direction, and the effect of healthy habits, realizing a scalable, preventative solution for as many people as possible."

Technology background
Scientific background Charged Multiscan
How it works
The Charged Multiscan is based on functional analysis and physiological data — not to be confused with bio-energetic scanning devices or bioresonance techniques. It is a computer-controlled medical system that visualizes collected data through scientifically validated technologies. These visualizations include images, diagrams, and customized graphics, offering valuable insights into your body's functionality and overall health. The results serve as a baseline reference for monitoring (initial measurement) and tracking progress over time (follow-up assessments).
Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
HRV measures fluctuations in the time interval between consecutive heartbeats, expressed in milliseconds (ms). It is a key indicator of the flexibility and adaptability of the autonomic nervous system, reflecting the balance between:
- The parasympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest), which slows the heart rate and allows for more variability (higher HRV).
- The sympathetic nervous system (fight-or-flight), which accelerates the heart rate and reduces variability (lower HRV).
HRV is widely regarded as the most effective method for assessing autonomic nervous system balance, given its direct influence on heart activity and extensive scientific validation. However, HRV is highly individual, making comparisons between people difficult. Regular HRV measurements help establish personal trends over time.
Scientific References:
- 2018 Meta-analysis HRV & stress

Digital Volume Pulse Analysis (DVPA)
Photoplethysmography (PPG) is a non-invasive technique that measures blood volume changes using optical sensors. It is commonly used to assess heart rate and blood oxygen saturation, providing insights into cardiovascular health.
The shape of the pulse wave reveals arterial stiffness, vascular resistance, and overall cardiovascular function. The digital volume pulse (DVP), similar to the pressure pulse, reacts to changes in arterial tension and aging. By analyzing this pulse, we can evaluate arterial properties. The arterial pulse wave consists of two main components: a forward wave and a reflected wave. The speed of the reflected wave is crucial—stiffer arteries cause a faster return, impacting systolic blood pressure.
Scientific References:
- 2002 Determination of large artery stiffness by DVP
- 2006 Pulse Wave technique
- 2008 Arterial stiffness indices in healthy volunteers using non-invasive DVP
- 2020 Cohort study: Cardiovascular events & DPW
Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) / Electrodermal Activity (EDA)
GSR measures the electrical conductivity of the skin in response to external stimuli. It is a physiological marker controlled by the autonomic nervous system, specifically the sympathetic nervous system.
When a person experiences emotional arousal, anxiety, or stress, sympathetic nervous activity increases, leading to higher sweat production and changes in skin conductivity. The galvanic skin response (GSR) is a well-documented and scientifically validated measure of physiological arousal. The term Electrodermal Activity (EDA) is often used interchangeably.

During a multi-segmental BIA measurement, weak electrical currents pass through the body. Different tissues — such as fat, muscle, bone, and water — present varying resistance levels. By measuring these resistances, BIA estimates body composition.
BIA results provide insights into body fat percentage, muscle mass, total body water, and other key health metrics. BIA is widely used in healthcare and the fitness industry to assess and track an individual's health and fitness levels.

- Right of Withdrawal: The consumer's ability to withdraw from the distance contract within the cooling-off period.
- Model Withdrawal Form: The withdrawal form provided by the entrepreneur that a consumer can use to exercise their right of withdrawal.

Article 3 – Applicability
These general terms and conditions apply to every offer made by the entrepreneur and every distance contract and order concluded between the entrepreneur and the consumer.
Before concluding a distance contract, the text of these general terms and conditions will be made available to the consumer. If this is not reasonably possible, the consumer will be informed where the terms and conditions can be accessed and that they will be provided upon request, free of charge.
If the distance contract is concluded electronically, the text of these general terms and conditions can be provided electronically in a way that allows the consumer to store them on a durable medium. If this is not possible, the consumer will be informed where they can access them electronically and that they will be sent upon request.
If specific product or service conditions apply in addition to these general terms and conditions, the second and third paragraphs of this article also apply, and the consumer may always rely on the provision most favorable to them in case of contradictions.
If any provision in these terms and conditions is found to be invalid or void, the agreement and these conditions remain in force, and the invalid provision will be replaced by a valid one that closely aligns with the original intent.
Situations not covered by these terms should be assessed in the spirit of these terms and conditions.
Any ambiguities in the interpretation of one or more provisions of these terms and conditions should be interpreted in the spirit of these terms and conditions.
Article 4 – The Offer
If an offer has a limited validity period or is subject to conditions, this will be explicitly stated in the offer.
The offer is non-binding. The entrepreneur reserves the right to change or adjust the offer.
The offer includes a complete and accurate description of the products and/or services provided. The description is sufficiently detailed to allow the consumer to make a proper assessment. If the entrepreneur uses images, they represent the offered products and/or services truthfully. Apparent mistakes or errors in the offer do not bind the entrepreneur.
All images, specifications, and details in the offer are indicative and cannot be a basis for compensation or contract termination.
Every offer contains information that makes it clear to the consumer what the rights and obligations are associated with accepting the offer, including:
- The price, including taxes.
- Any shipping costs.
- The method by which the contract will be concluded and what actions are necessary for this.
- Whether the right of withdrawal applies.
- The payment, delivery, and execution method.
- The acceptance period of the offer or the period within which the entrepreneur guarantees the price.
- Whether the contract will be archived after its conclusion and how the consumer can access it.
- The languages in which the contract can be concluded, besides Dutch.
- The codes of conduct the entrepreneur adheres to and how the consumer can review them electronically.
- The minimum duration of the distance contract in the case of a duration transaction.
Article 5 – The Agreement
The agreement is concluded at the moment the consumer accepts the offer and meets the conditions set therein.
If the consumer has accepted the offer electronically, the entrepreneur will immediately confirm receipt of the acceptance electronically. As long as this acceptance is not confirmed, the consumer may dissolve the contract.
If the contract is concluded electronically, the entrepreneur will take appropriate technical and organizational measures to secure the electronic data transfer and ensure a safe web environment. If the consumer can pay electronically, the entrepreneur will take appropriate security measures.
The entrepreneur may, within legal limits, assess whether the consumer can meet their payment obligations and investigate other relevant facts necessary for a responsible distance contract. If the entrepreneur has valid reasons not to conclude the contract, they are entitled to refuse an order or attach special conditions to its execution.
Article 6 – Right of Withdrawal
For Product Delivery: Consumers may cancel their purchase within 14 days after receiving the product without providing a reason. During the cooling-off period, the consumer must handle the product and packaging with care, only unpacking or using it to the extent necessary to determine if they wish to keep it.
To exercise their right of withdrawal, the consumer must notify the entrepreneur within 14 days using the model withdrawal form or another clear communication method (e.g., email). The consumer must return the product within 14 days of this notification.
If the consumer fails to notify the entrepreneur or return the product within the specified periods, the purchase is considered final.
For Service Delivery: Consumers may cancel a service contract within 14 days after concluding the contract, unless the service has already been fully performed with their explicit prior consent.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, the consumer must follow the provided reasonable and clear instructions.
Article 7 – Costs in Case of Withdrawal
- Consumers bear the direct costs of returning the product.
- If the consumer has already made a payment, the entrepreneur will refund it within 14 days after withdrawal, provided the returned product is received in good condition.
- Consumers are liable for any depreciation in value due to handling beyond what is necessary to determine whether they want to keep the product.
Article 8 – Exclusion of the Right of Withdrawal
The entrepreneur may exclude the consumer's right of withdrawal for certain products and services as described in paragraphs 2 and 3. The exclusion of the right of withdrawal is only valid if the entrepreneur clearly stated this in the offer or at least before the contract was concluded.
Exclusion of the right of withdrawal is only possible for the following products:
- Products that are custom-made according to the consumer's specifications.
- Products that are clearly personal in nature.
- Products that cannot be returned due to their nature.
- Products that may deteriorate or expire quickly.
- Products whose price is subject to fluctuations in the financial market, over which the entrepreneur has no control.
- Newspapers, magazines, or periodicals, except for subscriptions.
- Audio or video recordings, and computer software whose seal has been broken.
- Hygiene products whose seal has been broken after delivery.
Exclusion of the right of withdrawal is only possible for the following services:
- Services related to accommodation, transportation, catering, or leisure activities to be performed on a specific date or during a specific period.
- Services that have already commenced with the consumer's explicit consent before the end of the withdrawal period.
- Bets and lotteries.
Article 9 – The Price
- Prices stated in the offer remain valid during the specified validity period, except for price changes due to adjustments in VAT rates or legal regulations.
- Prices of products or services subject to fluctuations in the financial market, beyond the entrepreneur's control, may vary. This fluctuation and its potential impact on pricing will be clearly indicated in the offer.
- Price increases within three months after the agreement was concluded are only permitted if they result from legal changes.
- Price increases after three months are only permitted if:
- They result from legal regulations, or
- The consumer has the right to terminate the contract with effect from the date the price increase takes effect.
- All prices mentioned in the offer include VAT.
- The entrepreneur is not liable for printing or typographical errors. In case of errors, the entrepreneur is not obliged to deliver the product at the incorrect price.
Article 10 – Conformity and Warranty
- The entrepreneur guarantees that the products and services comply with the contract, the stated specifications, reasonable usability standards, and any applicable legal regulations at the time of contract formation. If applicable, the entrepreneur guarantees the product's suitability for special use if agreed upon.
- Any warranty provided by the entrepreneur, manufacturer, or importer does not affect the consumer's legal rights under the contract.
- Any defects or incorrectly delivered products must be reported in writing to the entrepreneur within two months after the defect is discovered.
- The warranty period provided by the entrepreneur corresponds to the manufacturer's warranty period. The entrepreneur is not responsible for the ultimate suitability of the product for an individual consumer's intended purpose or for any advice regarding its use.
- The warranty does not apply in the following cases:
- The consumer or a third party has repaired or altered the product.
- The product has been exposed to abnormal conditions or misused contrary to instructions.
- The defect is a result of government-imposed regulations regarding material use or quality standards.
Article 11 – Delivery and Execution
- The entrepreneur will exercise the utmost care in receiving and processing product orders and assessing service requests.
- The delivery address is the address provided by the consumer.
- The entrepreneur will process accepted orders with due speed, but no later than 30 days, unless a different delivery period has been agreed upon. If delivery is delayed or the order cannot be fulfilled, the consumer will be informed within 30 days. In such cases, the consumer may terminate the contract without costs.
- All delivery times are indicative. Consumers cannot claim compensation for delivery delays.
- If the contract is terminated due to failure to deliver, the entrepreneur will refund any payments within 14 days.
- If delivery of an ordered product is impossible, the entrepreneur will make an effort to provide a replacement product. This will be clearly communicated to the consumer. For replacement products, the right of withdrawal cannot be excluded. The consumer may return the replacement product at no additional cost.
- The risk of product damage or loss remains with the entrepreneur until delivery to the consumer or their designated representative, unless explicitly agreed otherwise.
Article 12 – Term Transactions: Term, Termination, and Renewal
Termination
- The consumer may terminate an indefinite-term agreement for recurring product or service delivery at any time, following agreed termination rules and with a notice period of no more than one month.
- The consumer may terminate a fixed-term agreement for recurring product or service delivery at the end of the term, following agreed termination rules and with a notice period of no more than one month.
- Consumers may terminate agreements:
- At any time without being restricted to a specific period.
- Using the same method as the agreement was originally entered into.
- With the same notice period as the entrepreneur applies for themselves.
Renewal
- Fixed-term agreements for recurring product or service delivery cannot be automatically renewed or extended.
- An exception applies for subscriptions to newspapers, magazines, and periodicals, which may be automatically extended for a maximum of three months, provided the consumer can terminate with one month's notice.
- A fixed-term agreement for product or service delivery may only be extended indefinitely if the consumer can terminate at any time with one month's notice, or three months' notice if deliveries occur less than once per month.
- Trial subscriptions automatically expire after the trial period and do not renew automatically.
Duration
- If a contract lasts more than one year, the consumer may terminate it at any time after one year with one month's notice, unless premature termination is deemed unreasonable under fairness principles.
Article 13 – Payment
- Unless otherwise agreed, amounts due from the consumer must be paid within 7 business days after the cooling-off period begins. If no cooling-off period applies, payment must be made within 7 business days after contract confirmation.
- Consumers must immediately report inaccuracies in provided payment details.
- In the event of non-payment, the entrepreneur may charge reasonable costs that were communicated to the consumer in advance.
Article 14 – Complaints Procedure
- The entrepreneur has a well-publicized complaints procedure and handles complaints accordingly.
- Complaints regarding contract execution must be submitted within two months after the consumer notices the issue.
- Complaints will be addressed within 14 days after receipt. If more time is needed, the consumer will be notified of the expected resolution timeline.
- If a complaint cannot be resolved, it may be submitted to an independent dispute resolution body.
- Complaints do not suspend the consumer's obligations, unless the entrepreneur states otherwise.
- If a complaint is justified, the entrepreneur will either replace or repair the product free of charge.
Article 15 – Disputes
- These general terms and conditions are governed exclusively by Dutch law, even if the consumer resides abroad.
- The Vienna Sales Convention does not apply.
Article 16 – Additional or Deviating Provisions
- Any additional or deviating provisions must not be disadvantageous to the consumer and must be recorded in writing or stored on a durable medium that the consumer can access.

Health coach: how to take control of your health
Jan 20 Written By Charged Health
We live in a time of unprecedented opportunities to improve our health. Knowledge and information are available to everyone, so unless you have a genetic predisposition, you could be in perfect health. So why isn't this the case? One reason is that 'knowing' is not the same as 'doing'. Behavioral change is difficult. And if you can really do anything, this can be extremely paralyzing. Because where do you start? Marleen Vernooij, medical assistant in cardiology and health coach at Charged, shares her vision.
Health coach: how to take control of your health
Marleen: 'To illustrate this, let's go back to the 1980s and how people approached their health back then. Health became increasingly popular during that decade, but it was mainly a group activity. People followed what was 'in' at the time, often without considering what suited their own bodies. Aerobics was all the rage: entire rooms full of people took group classes, inspired by fitness icon Jane Fonda. It was all about participating and burning calories.
Low-fat food
Nutrition in the 1980s was mainly about low-fat foods. Fat was seen as the great enemy of health and everything had to be low-fat. This often happened without much attention to other important aspects, such as sugar intake or a balanced diet. Diets such as Weight Watchers were extremely popular and focused on simply counting calories. For general health questions, you went to your family doctor. If you had a problem, you went to the doctor and they solved it. Wellness, holistic health, and preventive care were still largely unknown to the general public. The focus was mainly on physical health: exercising, losing weight, and looking good. The mental aspect, sleep, and stress management were not yet on the radar. Health in the 1980s was therefore mainly focused on general advice, group activities, and popular trends, without much attention to the unique needs of the individual.
Health in 2025: you ask, we deliver
In 2025, we will know that prevention is better than cure and that lifestyle has a major influence on this. We also want more: not just to avoid getting sick, but to live life to the fullest, full of energy! We know that we differ in personality, home situation, budget, and that women are not just small men. The range of nutrition, exercise, relaxation, tools for good sleep, and social activities is enormous. One person may be vegan, do yoga three times a week, and go to bed at 9:30 p.m., while you may get more energy from eating meat, strength training, and going to bed at 11 p.m. But how do you know? By trying everything? That's possible, of course. But you'd rather know exactly what's best for you (and what's not), right? By looking very specifically at your characteristics and needs, you gain deep insight into what works for you.
Your health type
I work as a health coach at Charged. We gain in-depth insight by first asking you extensive questions about your current healthy habits (the input) and how these affect how you feel (the output). Based on your answers, we determine your health type. In addition, it is important to consider what your body is telling us. Do you experience a lot of stress or fatigue? How flexible do you feel? Does your lifestyle suit your gender, body composition, cycle (if applicable), stage of life, and home situation?
Measurable health
Physically, you can measure your body composition instead of just your weight, in order to assess the effect of your exercise program on your muscle and fat percentages. You can have blood and DNA tests done to determine your risk of cardiovascular disease, for example, and thus know which risk factors you want to avoid. You can measure whether you are getting enough vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats from your current diet, or whether you should make some changes or take specific supplements. And you can measure stress in your body using heart rate variability, for example. Wearables such as a Fitbit, Oura Ring, or WHOOP measure your movement, heart rate, and recovery, so you know how your body is responding, when you can step it up a notch, or when you need more rest.
Remain pragmatic
And now I hear you thinking: "Isn't this going a bit too far?" Perhaps you've seen the Netflix documentary "Don't Die," about Bryan Johnson, a tech millionaire who is trying to stop aging with extreme health measures. From strict diets to medical innovations such as blood transfusions with his son, Johnson strives for perfect health. As far as I'm concerned, this is not the goal. Health is a prerequisite for living a good life, not a goal in itself (unless it makes you very happy, of course). We want to grow old as healthily and energetically as possible. It helps to know exactly what is important to you, because that saves time, money, and energy.
Hormonal cycle
For me, regularly doing our Health Scan and the daily insights from the Oura ring have helped me gain more insight into how my hormonal cycle affects my well-being. That I actually have a higher heart rate, higher temperature, lower HRV, and less energy. The figures help me to actually act on this, by sleeping more, demanding less of myself when exercising, and eating extra well. Curious about what your body needs? Fill in the Longevity Questionnaire here and get an indication of your biological age. In the Live webinar, Nora delves deeper into these themes.

Longevity: how to lower your biological age
Jan 20 Written By Charged Health
Life expectancy for women continues to rise, but what about our healthy years? Research shows that although women live longer than men on average, they often spend more years living with chronic diseases and a reduced quality of life. The concept of longevity, extending healthy life years, is therefore becoming increasingly relevant.
Longevity: how to lower your biological age
The idea of longevity is not new. Even in ancient times, philosophers and physicians were concerned with questions about healthy aging. Hippocrates, the "father of medicine," emphasized the importance of prevention and lifestyle rather than cure. Today, modern science confirms this: aging is not just an accumulation of years, but a biological process that can be influenced by choices in nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management.
Biological age
An important milestone in aging research is the concept of biological age. This is not the same as your chronological age (the number of years you have lived), but indicates how old your body actually is at the cellular level. This insight, which stems from groundbreaking research into epigenetics and glycobiology, offers practical tools for slowing down the aging process.
Biological versus chronological age
Imagine two women, both aged 50. One smokes, sleeps little, experiences a lot of stress, and eats irregularly. The other lives healthily, exercises regularly, and invests in relaxation. Although their chronological age is the same, their biological age can differ significantly. Perhaps one woman feels like she is 60, while the other has a body that resembles that of a 40-year-old. This difference is not just theoretical: studies show that a lower biological age is associated with a lower risk of chronic diseases and a higher quality of life.
Why is longevity important right now?
According to the RIVM, women in the Netherlands spend an average of 11 years in poor health. This not only has personal consequences, but also puts enormous pressure on our healthcare system. The increase in chronic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease calls for a different approach: prevention instead of repair. Longevity medicine responds to this by optimizing health and extending the "health span," the years in which we are healthy and vital. Want to get started right away? Then adjusting your diet is an important first step. (In this article, you will find 7 nutrition tips from a professor.)

Healthy Habits: How Small Steps Can Make a Big Impact
Dec 12 Written By Charged Health
Simplifying the path to healthy habits for you and your team
Why Healthy Habits Are the Key
Health is one of the greatest gifts we have, but maintaining it often feels like a challenge. Where do you start? How do you stay consistent? At Charged Health, we believe in a Measure, Learn, Act approach. First, we map your health using scientifically backed measurements. Then, we translate these insights into practical, personalized advice, and finally, we guide you in applying new habits.
Small, achievable steps can lead to enormous improvements, and we have the proof. In this article, I'll share insights from our research and practical tips to help you get started today. Because becoming healthier starts with one simple step.
What Is the Impact of Healthy Habits? Here's What We Discovered.
At Charged Health, we conducted research on the effects of our interventions and lifestyle guidance. Using the Multiscan Fit, which measures over 200 biomarkers (such as body composition, stress levels, spinal health, and cardiovascular fitness), we map health in great detail. But measurement goes beyond numbers. We aim to understand what clients truly want to achieve and why.
That's why we combine data from the Multiscan with personal conversations about habits and goals. This helps us make interventions not only effective but also sustainable.
In 2024, we analyzed all anonymized data, comparing results with baseline measurements. The insights? Significant progress for most clients and valuable lessons about what truly works. Our mission remains: not just collecting data but empowering people with the tools to take control of their own health.
Do the Results Really Work?
The numbers speak for themselves:
- 67% show progress: Most clients saw clear improvements in their overall well-being.
- Maximum progress: One client improved their Wellness Score by a remarkable 80 points!
- Average progress: On average, clients improved by about 35 points.
- Limited setbacks for 33%: A smaller group experienced slight setbacks, often due to external factors such as stress or personal circumstances.
Key areas for improvement include stress management, spinal health, and cardiovascular fitness. Relatively simple interventions, such as breathing exercises, light movement (like walking), stretching, or small posture adjustments, had an enormous impact. This proves that small, targeted steps can make a big difference.
The Long Haul: Body Composition Takes Time
Another finding is that changes in body composition, such as muscle mass or fat percentage, require longer periods for significant change. This process takes months, not weeks. The lesson? Patience pays off.
What Can You Do?
- Consistency over perfection: Focus on regular efforts, like weekly strength training and meal planning.
- Give your body time: Don't expect miracles in a few weeks; trust the process.
What Do Our Clients Need?
Interestingly, our Habits Scan revealed that transforming the body is a top priority for 19% of our clients. This ranges from weight loss to building muscle and a stronger physique. Following this, 15.9% want more energy, and 14.3% aim to reduce stress. This shows that physical and mental health often go hand in hand.
Other key themes include better sleep (11.1%) and finding more purpose (12.7%). This highlights that health for many people is more than just the physical — it also involves mental and emotional well-being.
What this data teaches us is that health is personal. For some, it's about physical improvements, while for others, it's about mental balance or better sleep. This underscores the importance of tailoring our interventions to the specific needs of each client. Only by truly meeting people where they are can we make sustainable changes.
What Motivates?
Before starting a healthier lifestyle, it's important to know what truly motivates you. This insight helps you get through tough times when results may take time to appear. When you clearly understand your drive, you stay focused and motivated.
From our Habits Scan, we learned:
- 52.4% are motivated by setting and achieving specific goals.
- 19% value enjoyment in the process.
- 9.5% rely on social support and teamwork.
What about you? What motivates you to work on healthier habits? Knowing this could be the difference between a temporary attempt and lasting change.
Who Are Our Clients, and What Do They Seek?
On average, our clients rate their lives at almost 8 out of 10 (7.95). This shows that they are generally satisfied and happy. But why seek improvement? For them, it's not about perfection — it's about something much more important: continuing to invest in themselves.
They want to grow, feel more energetic, and bring out the best in themselves — in a realistic and sustainable way.
Insights from Our Habits Scan
Through the Habits Scan, we extensively asked clients about their habits and how they subjectively assess their own health. These insights help us personalize interventions and focus on areas where clients can benefit the most.
(Chart/graphic here)
What Can We Learn from Setbacks?
Progress isn't always linear. While the majority of our clients make strides forward, 33% experienced minor setbacks. This reminds us that behavior change is a process of ups and downs. Setbacks are not failures but opportunities to learn where support is needed.
Where we see setbacks:
- Stress: Often influenced by external factors such as workload or personal issues, stress management requires an integrated approach.
- Spinal health: Setbacks often result from poor posture or lack of movement. Small daily adjustments can make a big difference.
What Does This Mean for You?
Our research shows that healthy habits truly make an impact. The key lies in a holistic approach: combine physical interventions with mental resilience. Remember, small changes, like improving sleep patterns or daily movement, can have long-term effects.
Our Mission: Improving Your Health
At Charged Health, we believe everyone has the power to live healthier, more energetic lives. Our tools and guidance are designed to make that process easier and more insightful. This research confirms that our approach works.

What is your lifestyle?
Nov 28 Written By Charged Health
What is your lifestyle?
What tone of voice do you use throughout your day? What is the first thought that comes to mind when you wake up? And how do you feel when you step out of bed? What is the first thing you drink?
I used to think that lifestyle was something superficial. Lifestyle coaching? To be honest, I didn't find it very interesting. And I know dozens of coaches, but not a single lifestyle coach. Funny, isn't it?
But your lifestyle is literally the style in which you live and therefore determines everything! What you do every day—your habits—is just the tip of the iceberg. That 10%, as you probably know, is largely determined by the 90% that lies beneath the surface. And yet that visible tip does determine how you experience your day (and therefore your life):
- how much energy you have;
- how connected, happy, and grateful you feel;
- and how healthy and fit you become as you age.
But how do you know what lies beneath the surface (and is therefore unconscious)? At Charged, we always start with Measurement and Knowledge. The in-depth insights that emerge from our measurements clearly reveal what is happening above and below the surface. This allows you to discover why those seemingly "superficial" lifestyle habits are so difficult to change.
Now that I see how much impact and meaning this has, my perspective on lifestyle has changed completely. Together with our amazing team, I am ready to help you (or your team)!

What Science Says About Healthy Habits
Nov 25 Written By Charged Health
In today's fast-paced world, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can feel overwhelming. But science tells us something incredible: 80% of chronic illnesses are preventable with simple, consistent lifestyle changes.
Here are five areas where small changes can lead to big results:
- Nutrition – A diet rich in fruits and vegetables reduces the risk of heart disease by 31%. Start small — add one extra serving of greens to your meals today.
- Movement – Daily physical activity doesn't have to be intense. Just 30 minutes of movement can reduce anxiety by 20% and boost happiness hormones. Walk, dance, or stretch — it all counts!
- Recovery – Sleep is essential for your body and mind. 7–9 hours of quality sleep strengthens your immune system, improves focus, and reduces stress. Try turning off screens 30 minutes before bed for deeper rest.
- Mental Health – Chronic stress affects both your mental and physical health, but mindfulness practices can help. Research shows that mindfulness reduces stress by 25%. A few minutes of deep breathing can make a big difference.
- Connection – Social bonds are powerful. People with strong relationships live 50% longer than those who are socially isolated. Make time to connect with friends or family — it's good for your heart and soul.
The takeaway? Small, consistent habits lead to lasting change. Start with one habit today, and observe how it transforms your health.
What's the first step you'll take toward a healthier you?

Good intentions...
Nov 15 Written By Charged Health
End of the year. Just a little more time for those New Year's resolutions... but be honest: how often have they actually worked out?
Living healthier doesn't have to be a never-ending struggle. How can you make sure you succeed this time? Maybe it's your approach...
Healthy habits often feel like something you "have to" do. But how long can you keep doing something that feels like an obligation? Start with a reason that really resonates with you. Health is always a means to something deeper: more energy, less stress, peace of mind—whatever your "why" is, make that the foundation.
Too corny? Then why is it still not working?
Keep it simple. Healthy habits don't have to be complicated. Start small. Choose something you can do every day, like climbing a mountain—step by step, you'll get higher. Every small action will make you feel good and strengthen your self-confidence and mental resilience.
No miracles. They don't exist. Do you want real change? Then you need a lifestyle shift. Healthy habits not only shape your body, but also your identity. Give yourself time to build these routines and feel how they reduce your stress and improve your balance.
Start now, and in a few months you'll look back with pride. Not starting now? Well... then you'll have to start later.
Be critical. Don't be fooled by endless "secret formulas." You think you're not easily influenced? Then why have you tried five different diets and repeatedly claimed that this is the solution... only to give up again?
No more excuses. If you really want to change, it starts with your own choices. Learn to deal with temptations, build resilience, and realize that everyone has their own pace. Be kind to yourself, but also be honest: it's time for action and responsibility.
It's okay to make mistakes. Perfection isn't necessary. Healthy habits don't fall apart after one "failure" – just pick up where you left off. Consistency is what counts.
Maybe I sound harsh? But sometimes you need a wake-up call. And if you think, "This isn't about me," then I'm probably not talking to you. Some people are naturals, others are just unlucky—that sucks. But if you have a choice, it's time to take action.
Ready to make healthier habits a natural part of your life? Start by understanding who you are and what you need. Build on that with small steps that strengthen your body and mind. For many people, this has become an unconscious part of their day—and yes, they are happy about it. Why shouldn't you experience that too?
Healthy habits are the foundation for achieving your deepest desires. Your health is your wealth—for both body and mind. You can do it too!
And if you want to discuss it, you know where to find me, Marleen, Evert, Jesse, and Mark. Even if it's not for yourself, maybe it's for someone you care about. Who knows, maybe even your mother-in-law—let's just say that her health is also good for your peace of mind! (Hey, the holidays are almost here.)

A fresh start with Charged: a journey toward health, balance, and meaning
Oct 28 Written By Charged Health
Interview with one of our co-founders, Niek Karsmakers.
What if a healthy lifestyle isn't a destination, but something you build every day, step by step?
Since taking a step back from Aimforthemoon, I devoted myself entirely to searching for something new. I was ready for a new purpose, my next big adventure. But despite all the interesting books, podcasts, ideas, and conversations I had with coaches and mentors, the direction remained unclear (see, among others, S01E4, S01E05, and S01E07). I just couldn't figure it out by thinking about it alone. So I decided to take a different approach and went back to my body. I focused on a healthier lifestyle, started simply feeling instead of forcing, and, without immediately realizing it, I found exactly the direction I was looking for.
Perhaps it also has something to do with my age. I recently turned forty—still young to some, immensely mature to others. For me, it was a bit of both. I realized that my body had always taken care of me until now, but that it was time to take on that responsibility myself. This time, not as a project with an end goal, but as a lifelong commitment to myself.
Conversations revealed that I was not the only one seeking a healthy balance between body and mind. I was already in the process of setting up a new personal health company, Charged. My own experiences and insights turned this into more than just an idea for me. Helping people live healthier and more energetic lives, both physically and mentally, became a long-term mission.
Stop and really listen
The realization that Charged is my new direction was also made possible because I finally had the space to pause and reflect. In that quiet moment, something became very clear: my quest for success had actually pushed me further away from my own balance. For years, I followed intensive training schedules and diets, pursuing extreme sporting goals. There's nothing wrong with that in itself—I love a challenge—but all that time, I overlooked something important: I was only listening to external advisors and not to my own body.
Why healthy habits aren't as easy as they seem
We all know the rules for healthy living: daily exercise, healthy eating, sufficient relaxation, and enough sleep. This is nothing new. Yet I see that many people feel overwhelmed by an overload of obligations and get stuck. In fact, more than half of the Dutch population is objectively unhealthy, resulting in lifestyle diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, and heart failure. The problem is often not knowledge—we really do know what we need to do—but how to translate this knowledge into a workable daily routine that you can maintain. That is one of the biggest challenges: how do you maintain a healthy lifestyle when work, family, and social obligations also demand your attention?
The new adventure: Charged as your travel companion
Charged is not just another health program, but a lifestyle partner that makes health accessible and sustainable. Our "Measure, Know, Do" principle brings health back to basics: we start with objective health measurements using the latest technology and combine this with your personal story and challenges. By combining objective data with your own insights, we build a plan that not only works in theory, but really fits your life and circumstances.
Sustainable health: climbing a mountain one step at a time
We see behavioral change as akin to mountain climbing: it is not about the leap to the summit, but about the small, consistent steps you take every day. Our experience shows that with the right guidance, people can build healthy habits step by step. We have already guided many individuals who are now proudly seeing their progress and noticing that their energy and resilience have grown.
My four personal pillars of sustainable health
Health is actually the prerequisite for making the valuable things in life possible. What those things are differs from person to person. And health also has a unique meaning for everyone; everyone has their own blueprint for optimal personal health. For me, these are the four pillars that I use:
- Exercise: For years, exercise was a way for me to perform. I trained intensively, convinced that "more is always better." Now I know that this doesn't work. Through Charged, I've learned that exercise isn't about the hardest workout or the biggest challenge, but about ways of moving that support my body. I still love challenges, but now I do them just for fun, not because I think I "have to" for my health. In my current routine, I aim to walk 10,000 steps every day (or cycle the equivalent) and do strength training three times a week. I also leave the car at home more often and take my bike instead. This approach helps me stay fit without putting unnecessary strain on my body, and it fits seamlessly into my daily life.
- Nutrition: For me, nutrition was always a matter of "what gives the best results," by which I meant fat and weight loss. I wanted a body I was happy with and measured that by my weight. Extreme diets, supplements, superfoods—I tried them all. Recent research showed that I had been living with celiac disease (severe gluten intolerance) since childhood without realizing it. Now I understand that nutrition is not about restrictions, but about eating nutritious foods that give me energy and suit my body. Thanks to Charged, I make realistic choices that support me, without constantly counting calories. In my current routine, I consciously choose food without restrictions (except for gluten, which is already quite a challenge), with as many unprocessed, basic ingredients as possible. I make sure that every meal has a good balance of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, with a special focus on sufficient protein. My extreme sugar cravings have disappeared. I also drink much less alcohol and much more water than before, which helps me feel more energetic and clear-headed.
- Mental health and rest: Rest is not a luxury, but an essential part of health. I always thought of this in terms of physical rest, but now I know that it also involves emotional, mental, social, sensory, and creative rest. Charged has helped me realize this, and it helps me to build moments of rest and recovery into my busy schedule. Recently, I have learned how important it is to press the pause button regularly. In my current routine, I try to spend less time on my phone and laptop. The 10,000 steps per day almost always result in an evening walk, which helps me end the day peacefully. I also seek out nature more often to relax—it brings me balance and really helps me unwind and recharge. In addition, I periodically visit a retreat that focuses on breathing techniques and plant ceremonies, which helps me experience a deeper level of rest.
- Meaning and intrinsic motivation: What helped me most was rediscovering why I want to be healthy. Not just for appearances, because it's in a book, or because someone says I should, but purely for myself and my loved ones. I now feel a strong connection to what is truly important to me. Every step towards health feels like a conscious choice I make for my own well-being, not something that is imposed on me. And I can then pass on that energy to the people around me, which adds extra value to those choices for me.
There is nothing more satisfying than realizing that building Charged is perfectly aligned with this personal vision. Of course, I am not doing this alone, but together with inspiring partners: Marleen, Jesse, Mark, and Evert. Charged not only feels like my purpose; it is an extension of my own journey and the values that I hold dear in my life. It makes every step in this adventure, both personal and professional, a little more meaningful and reinforces my belief that I am on the right path.
Charged: not yet another health program
Charged is not just any program; it is your lifestyle partner that supports you and travels with you. No standard programs, but a personalized approach that fits your life, body, and goals perfectly. We believe that healthy habits should not be an extra burden, but rather a valuable enrichment.

We apply this experience to companies so that teams can remain not only physically but also mentally healthy.
Charged: more than business, a new purpose
Charged is my "next big thing"; my new purpose. It helps me to be meaningful, both to myself and to others. Charged shows that health is not about perfection, but about gradual progress and learning to feel what your body and mind really need.
